U.S. to allow 7,000 Iraqi refugees

CNN Website:- http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/02/14/us.iraq.refugees/index.html

In an unprecedented move, President George Bush has announced plans to resettle Iraqi refugees in the United States in perhaps an attempt to divert attention from the poor human rights record the Coalition troops have chalked up in the Middle-East.

Even though this might be a political move, I still feel that President George Bush has done a good thing in moving these Iraqis to his country. With the migration situation in the United States already in a huge mess, President Bush is doing a very brave thing in introducing even more immigrants to his country.

As for these Iraqis, this will bring them much relief from the crisis that has crippled much of the nation. But I really wonder whether the Iraqis are being helped or will they be setup for another fall. A few years ago, President Bush promised the Iraqis freedom from tyranny and a better life. Today, most Iraqis back in Iraq will tell you they had a better life under Saddam then the current regime which is made up of Sectarian Militias and President Bush's troops. So after the move, will these Iraqis be able to settle down properly or will they be subjected to abuse by the American people? Only time will tell.
